San Pedro Sunset (Original)
San Pedro Sunset
11 × 9 × 2.5 inches | Mixed Media
This piece was created using found objects collected from the beaches of San Pedro, California — shells, fragments, and textures shaped by tide and time. Each element carries with it a quiet history, gathered during long walks along the shore when my son Ansel and daughter Iris were still toddlers. Those afternoons were slow and unplanned, spent searching for shells, watching the light shift across the water, and letting the rhythm of the ocean guide our pace.
The work holds those moments of simple joy and presence. The layered materials echo the coastline itself — worn, weathered, and softened by repetition — while the composition reflects the warmth of a setting sun sinking into the horizon. It is less a depiction of a place and more a memory of feeling: laughter carried by the wind, small hands offering treasures found in the sand, and the calm that comes from being fully present together.
San Pedro Sunset is a reflection on time, family, and the quiet beauty of shared moments. It holds gratitude for those days when life felt lighter, measured not by hours, but by waves, light, and the closeness of being together.
